This Christianity Today @CTmagazine blog article "Penny Pinching as a Christian Virtue: The spiritual dimensions of frugal living" http://bit.ly/Wo6XF caught my attention as something I'd normally be interested in, plus it seemed to relate to something we discussed in a recent c-group bible study on Romans 12:2 about "not being conformed to this world". I checked a link from that article at Freegan [(http://freegan.info) @FreeganDotInfo ] and although I've never been into dumpster diving or squatting ;-) , I found a useful, frugal challenge somewhere around there about never paying full price/retail for anything. And then later that day, I read @thejoelstein 's column in @time magazine "The week of living cheaply. In which I refuse to pay retail for anything-and still somehow bleed cash".  It's all quite interesting and challenging, esp. for someone who likes to shop at Costco and Ikea too much! ;-)

http://bit.ly/2fCEMX @seattletimes @washingtonpost Tradition vs. exploitation in Thailand, This article was quite eye-opening, esp since we prob did the same tour 10 years ago (we were living in Iwakuni, Japan near Hiroshima and took a trip to Thailand), back when I had no idea such a trip would have anything to do with "human trafficking" and now we have young friends through church connections who were refugees from Burma.

http://bit.ly/3EKDT6 Buckeye Balls Recipe One of my neighbors from Ohio shared her recipe with me. Supposedly they are called Horse Chestnut balls up here. On another note, it’s a relief… the maintenance man fiddled with the valves and it seems to

Heater boiler dripping worsened. We are bailing out the bucket every hour now. Dh/Ben had to make some calls and the regular (new?) maintenance man says he’ll drive back from Everett (an hour away) to TRY to turn off that water supply until the boile

Today we went to the Northwest African American Museum @naamnw with c-group friends Chad and W., their foster student from Congo (photo #1). Jd12 said her favorite part of the museum was the jukebox featuring Jimi Hendrix. Afterwards we enjoyed the fall foliage (photo #2) in Jimi Hendrix Park before getting a bite to eat at a new Greek restaurant run by a man from Pakistan! He told us that gyros are also from Pakistan, just like noodles were originally from China but further popularized in Italy.

Oh the joys of renting/living in a 100 year old house. The heater/boiler started leaking out water…The regular maintenance man can’t fix it and I was told the specialist boiler man won’t come until after the weekend…I’m NOT too happy to hear abou

Upon opening the dryer, I noticed that (unnamed child) left a pen in the pocket of a formerly dirty jacket and now there’s ink everywhere. I’m trying to convince the tweens/teens that the latest fashion statement will be …the ink spot.
