This Christianity Today @CTmagazine blog article "Penny Pinching as a Christian Virtue: The spiritual dimensions of frugal living" http://bit.ly/Wo6XF caught my attention as something I'd normally be interested in, plus it seemed to relate to something we discussed in a recent c-group bible study on Romans 12:2 about "not being conformed to this world". I checked a link from that article at Freegan [(http://freegan.info) @FreeganDotInfo ] and although I've never been into dumpster diving or squatting
, I found a useful, frugal challenge somewhere around there about never paying full price/retail for anything. And then later that day, I read @thejoelstein 's column in @time magazine "The week of living cheaply. In which I refuse to pay retail for anything-and still somehow bleed cash". It's all quite interesting and challenging, esp. for someone who likes to shop at Costco and Ikea too much!

October 23, 2009Today we went to the Northwest African American Museum @naamnw with c-group friends Chad and W., their foster student from Congo (photo #1). Jd12 said her favorite part of the museum was the jukebox featuring Jimi Hendrix. Afterwards we enjoyed the fall foliage (photo #2) in Jimi Hendrix Park before getting a bite to eat at a new Greek restaurant run by a man from Pakistan! He told us that gyros are also from Pakistan, just like noodles were originally from China but further popularized in Italy.
